Community Guidelines & Content Policy

Last updated August 1, 2026

These guidelines keep Tattou honest, safe, and fair for everyone — clients, artists, and studios alike. By using Tattou, you agree to follow them in addition to our Terms of Service.

Why we have these guidelines

Tattou exists to connect clients with genuine, trustworthy tattoo artists and studios, and to give artists and studios a platform that respects their craft. These guidelines exist to keep that experience honest, safe, and fair for everyone — clients, artists, and studios alike.

By using Tattou, you agree to follow these guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service.

1. Be honest

• Portfolios must be genuine. Only post work you've actually done, or that you have clear permission to share. Don't post another artist's work as your own.

• Profile information must be accurate. Location, pricing, styles, and availability should reflect reality. Don't misrepresent your experience, qualifications, or verification status.

• Reviews must reflect a real experience. Don't post, request, or incentivise fake reviews, for yourself or anyone else. Don't review your own business or a business you're personally connected to in a way designed to mislead others.

2. Be respectful

• No harassment, hate speech, threats, or abuse, toward clients, artists, studios, or Tattou staff.

• No discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

• Keep messaging professional. Tattou's messaging tools are for booking-related communication, not unrelated solicitation or spam.

3. What you can and can't post

Allowed:

• Your own tattoo work and flash designs

• Studio and workspace photos

• Genuine client testimonials and reviews (with appropriate consent for any identifiable images)

Not allowed:

• Content that is sexually explicit or gratuitously violent

• Content depicting or promoting illegal activity

• Hate symbols, extremist imagery, or content promoting discrimination

• Misleading before/after images, or images not representing your own genuine work

• Someone else's copyrighted work posted without permission

• Personal information about another person shared without their consent

• Spam, scams, or content unrelated to tattooing and booking

4. Age and consent

• You must be 18 or older to use Tattou.

• Artists and studios are responsible for following all applicable laws regarding age verification, informed consent, and any restrictions on tattooing minors in their jurisdiction. Tattou's consent form tools support this but do not replace an artist's or studio's own legal responsibilities.

5. Health and safety

• Artists and studios are responsible for maintaining appropriate hygiene, safety, and licensing standards required in their jurisdiction. Tattou does not verify or guarantee compliance with local health and safety regulations, this remains the artist's or studio's responsibility.

• Clients should disclose accurate health information on consent forms. Providing false information on a consent form may affect an artist's or studio's ability to safely provide services, and may affect liability in the event of a complication.

6. Payments and bookings

• Deposits and bookings should only be made through Tattou's payment system. Don't ask clients to pay outside the Platform to avoid fees, this isn't permitted and isn't protected by Tattou's payment security.

• Don't use Tattou's quote-to-anyone feature to spam people who haven't asked for a quote.

• Cancellation and refund terms should be clearly and honestly communicated to clients before a deposit is taken.

7. Referral program conduct

Referral links should only be shared with genuine prospective users. Self-referring (creating accounts to refer yourself) or coordinating with others to falsely generate referral payouts is not permitted, and may result in forfeited earnings and account suspension.

8. Reporting and enforcement

If you see content or behaviour that breaks these guidelines, please report it. We review reports and may:

• Remove content that violates these guidelines

• Issue a warning

• Suspend or permanently remove an account

• Withhold or reclaim referral payouts obtained through violations

• Report illegal activity to relevant authorities

We aim to be fair and consistent, but we reserve the right to make judgement calls where content or conduct falls into a grey area, always with the goal of protecting the trust of the wider Tattou community.

9. Appeals

If you believe a decision made about your content or account was made in error, you can contact us at hello@tattou.co to request a review.

10. Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines as Tattou grows and as new situations arise. We'll do our best to communicate significant changes clearly.
